Netspend Scholarship

Who is Eligible?
Applicants must:
• Be a primary cardholder whose account is in good standing at the time of application and at the time the award is claimed.
• Be a US Resident.
• Be 18 years of age or older at time of application.
• Not be related to a Netspend, TSYS or Global Payments employee.
• Claim scholarship within 45 days of being awarded.

Which card programs are participating?
All Netspend-affiliated card programs, regardless of branding, are included.

What information is needed to apply?
The application will ask you for basic information about yourself, including age, gender, contact information, and household income. It will ask you to share information about the education program you are attending or plan to attend, and your plans for how to finance the education. There are also a few short-answer questions to help us get to know you better. Finally, we ask for the name and contact information for two references.

What are the deadlines?
The deadline to submit the online application is February 23, 2022 at 12 midnight Central Time.

When will I be notified?
All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application on or before April 20, 2022.

How long do I have to claim the scholarship award?
Scholarship winners have exactly 45 days to claim their award from the time the award e-mail was sent.

How will I receive the scholarship award?
The money will be sent directly to the qualifying institution on behalf of the scholarship recipient. The money will not be mailed directly to the recipient.

Can I use the award money towards anything else outside of my tuition?
The scholarship money will apply to the recipient’s tuition and cannot be applied to existing student loans or expenses. If there are remaining tuition funds, the institution may apply those funds to qualified educational expenses (books, room/housing and meal plans) at their discretion.
The scholarship award cannot be used towards exams (i.e. CPA exam, Bar exam, etc.)
The scholarship award cannot be applied to more than one institution.

If the award money exceeds the tuition that I owe, will I receive the remaining funds?
No, if you have money from your award left over after your tuition is paid, the remaining funds will go back to the Netspend Scholarship Program.
